Amoeba Kings!

from $6.00
Sold Out

All hail the Amoeba King! A single-key PCB that makes a great match for my Dactyl Manuform case prints to build a full-blown futurific ergonomic keyboard.

One order is for 25 Amoebas in a 5x5 square. You can get the PCB only or you can order them with 25 SMD 1N4148 SOD-123 diodes and 25 Kailh hot-swap sip sockets. The diodes and sockets are included separately and aren’t soldered to the PCBs.

They really help make builds cleaner and less error-prone. They support per-key LEDs as well as SMD diodes.

The big selling point of the King over the original Amoeba is that these can fit a Kailh hot swap sip socket. Simply solder one to the pads and you're hot swap ready.

I have an overview on soldering the various components onto the Amoeba King and how to set up per-key RGB lighting. It’s a tricky little PCB! It’s here:

This isn't my own design, I offer them mainly to ease building Dactyl Manuforms, whether my own prints or anyone's.

They come in 5x5 squares, so 25 per order. I recommend making sure you have a few extras.

Note they don't support through-hole 1N4148 diodes, but use SMD SOD-123 diodes like these:

Here's the original deskauthority thread on the Amoeba King: https://deskthority.net/viewtopic.php?t=11420&start=60

And here's the GitHub link to the repo. You can order them yourself from a PCB fab, if you like.
